                                     MAJOR CHANGES AT THE STUDIO-MOVING TO HOUSTON!

We are moving back to Houston after a decade in Austin.  The move is "inside the Loop" which in Houstonese means living inside the 680 loop, in the downtown area.  Great community spirit, nice neighbors and no commutes.  The studio will occupy the entire third floor of our townhouse, a much more acoustically favorable place.  We have already worked on modeling the acoustics and the new treatments are being installed.  Should be completed by mid-summer. 

I have had the help of sales engineer and friend,  Scott Augustyniak at Sweetwater to  make gear changes.   We are going with the SSL suite of DAW control hardware including the UF 8, UC1 and UF1.   Outboard gear  has been upgraded with a Neve Newton Channel and Daking pre-amps and compressors.  Interface has been upgraded to an SSL18 and SSL Alpha 8.  Some new pedals, a Fender Acoustasonic amp for acoustic guitar were also added. However,  the biggest upgrade was the addition of Adam Audio A77H monitors. Wow!  All this combined with the SSL suite should make for a great experience.

          Nanogram Studio is an advanced home studio that can help musicians produce multi-track recordings with excellent analog hardware coupled to a solid digital audio workshop (DAW). The studio is owned by Barry Holtz, a consulting biochemist for the biopharmaceutical industry and long-time guitar player and collector.          The basic philosophy has been to couple good quality microphones, preamps and outboard equipment to the DAW.  We like these combinations for recording voice and acoustic instruments especially.   We welcome the chance to talk to other gear heads and those with guitar acquisition syndrome (GAS) that have facilities like ours.
